John Ayers Named NPG Director of Operations

Former Professional Motocross Racer Brings 35 Years of Experience

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (November 28, 2007) – The National Promoters Group (NPG) today announced that John Ayers has been named Director of Operations for the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Presented by FMF. Ayers brings 35 years of experience to a series that is coming off its most successful season since its inception in 1972.

Ayers, instrumental in the formation of the NPG in 1998, has acted as sponsor and series coordinator for the NPG during the past 10 years. As the NPG Director of Operations, Ayers will be charged with overseeing all aspects of the series’ production, promotion and sponsorship, including coordination with each of the 12 individual track owners/promoters that form the NPG.

“The NPG has worked really hard in developing the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship into the most important and competitive motocross series in the world,” said Ayers. “The racing has been very exciting, the fan turnout continues to grow and sponsors are happy across the board. Our goal is to continue the momentum the series has built over the past few years.”

Ayers, a former professional motocross racer who consistently posted top-10 finishes during the mid- to late-1970s, will work with AMA Pro Racing to produce a 12-race, May-to-September racing schedule. Maintaining the sport’s heritage and marketing it with the unique festival atmosphere of an outdoor venue will be the key to success for the NPG, according to Ayers.

“The AMA Toyota Motocross nationals are the roots of this great sport of ours,” explained Ayers. “Many of today’s top pros, and their fans, tell us they still like to get outdoors and watch our sport in its natural environment. It’s our job to work with AMA Pro Racing so we can continue to deliver this type of racing in a professional, festival-type atmosphere that is appealing to wide audience.”
