WASSERMAN ATHLETES SECURE THREE DEW CUPS AT DEW TOUR’S PLAYSTATION PRO
WASSERMAN ATHLETES SECURE THREE DEW CUPS AT DEW TOUR’S PLAYSTATION PRO

Carlsbad, CA – October 19, 2009 – Wasserman athletes, Jamie Bestwick, Ryan Nyquist and Bucky Lasek, secured the coveted Dew Cup in their respective disciplines this weekend at Orlando’s Amway Arena at the PlayStation Pro, the final stop of the Dew Tour.

Jamie Bestwick, a 38-year-old British native, made Dew Tour history Friday night as he won BMX Vert Finals making him the first ever athlete to sweep a competition season and secure a fifth consecutive Dew Cup win. Bestwick locked in his victory with a final score of 93.25 after a series of amazing tricks ultimately earning him a total of 400 overall points, 74 points ahead of his closest competitor.

“This season was a dream come true for me. I worked really hard for each of my victories hoping to get to this point and it feels amazing. The competition was awesome and this was a huge milestone for me,” said Bestwick on his recent win. Fellow Wasserman athlete, Steve McCann, placed 3rd in the overall Dew Cup standings with a total of 322 points.

Ryan Nyquist proved to be dominant force in Orlando taking both the BMX Dirt Dew Cup win on Saturday and the 1st place event win in BMX Park on Sunday. Nyquist’s consistency throughout the season placed him as the front runner for the overall Dew Cup in BMX Dirt taking out his competition by a mere six points with a total of 354 overall points. This weekend’s win marks the second Dew Cup of his career, as well as making him the first ever two-time Dew Cup Champion in BMX Dirt.

“It was the perfect way to end the season and it is a really good feeling. I wanted to end the season on a good note and I did that. Two Dew Cups in dirt and a win in park - I couldn’t ask for anything more,” said Nyquist. The two time champion also took home the PlayStation Player of the Year award at last night’s award ceremony.

Bucky Lasek also confirmed why he is considered one of the best vert skaters last night taking both the 1st place win and the Dew Cup win in Skateboard Vert. The Baltimore native dominated the race for the championship beating his competitors with a total of 368 overall points and final score of 90.88. Last night’s win marks a three-peat for Lasek having won the Dew Cup in both 2005 and 2006.

“Orlando was amazing, I had the opportunity to walk around and meet fans – it was really uplifting meeting the people that support me. I can’t wait to come back next year and compete,” said Lasek.
Wasserman athletes have secured fourteen 1st place finishes through the 2009 Dew Tour Season throughout skateboarding and BMX disciplines.
