Adam Cianciarulo and Mark Worth capture 51cc 7-8 and 4-6 classes, respectively, while Cobra bikes take five of top six podium spots overall NORTH LIMA, Ohio, (Aug. 8, 2005) – Two young MX hotshots aboard the legendary Cobra brand racing minicycles – Adam Cianciarulo and Mark Worth - captured the top two spots in the 51cc MX 1 & 2 classes, respectively, this past week at the 2005 Air Nautiques Amateur National Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. Showcasing the depth at which the Cobra minincycle phenomenon has spread across the nation, Cobra racers from five unique regions won five of the six available podium spots for the 51cc MX 1 & 2 classes. Joining Cianciarulo (Port Orange, Fla.) on the podium was California’s Zach Commans, who finished third overall. And completing the Cobra sweep with Worth (Queen Creek, Ariz.) in the MX 1 class were Carter Stephenson (Rolla, Mo.) in second overall and Bradley Esper (Howell, Mich.) in third. “It’s what people expect from Cobra,” said Bud Maimone, founder of Cobra Motorcycles. “We have a team of people dedicated to working hard all year long with one goal in mind – building bikes that are capable of winning championships. And this summer two very talented boys in Adam and Mark were able to deliver those coveted Loretta’s titles back to the folks at Cobra. So from everybody at our factory I’d like to thank Adam and Mark – along with the legions of other Cobra racers battling for championships – for being a part of the Cobra family.” Almost lost in the rush of Cobra bikes to the front of the 7-8 51cc pack was Cobra minicycle legend Adam Cianciarulo, who just last week was cleared by Dr. Steve Augustine to race Loretta’s. Adam had injured his arm in a practice session wreck a couple weeks prior to Loretta’s and was not sure if he was going to be able to race. Still a bit sore, Adam decided to race. His road to the eventual podium would not only be that much more difficult given his injured arm, Adam didn’t do himself any favors in the first moto by picking the #42 spoon in the gate pic – or in other words, the absolute worst start spot in the field. But Adam isn’t the greatest peewee racer of all-time for getting lucky. The Port Orange, Fla., flyer was up to 30th place by the end of the first lap, then continued to pick off racers all the way up to 2nd place overall in the first moto of the 51cc (7-8) class. He then flat out dominated the second two motos to take the overall class title - his first title at Loretta’s. “This was Adam’s last Loretta Lynn’s championship run on a King Cobra and he certainly went out with a bang,” said Sean Hilbert, President of Cobra Motorcycles. “Adam is Cobra’s all-time leader in the wins department and we definitely wish him the best of luck in the future.
