450SX Class Stats: Phoenix
The first 450SX Class race held in Phoenix was on March 16, 1991, and Jean-Michael
Bayle won on a Honda; that was the last race held in Phoenix until 1999.
This will be the 18th time the gate will drop for a 450SX Class race in Phoenix.
Ezra Lusk won his last 450SX Class race in Phoenix on a Kawasaki in 2003.
James Stewart and Ryan Dungey are the only riders to win Phoenix in both the 450SX
and 250SX Classes. Jason Anderson or Eli Tomac could join this group with a victory.
Dungey earned his first career 450SX Class victory in Phoenix in 2010. He also gave
KTM their first-ever 450SX Class victory in Phoenix in 2012.
Justin Brayton had his lone second-place finish in Phoenix last year.

Ken Roczen earned the third 450SX Class win of his career; it was his 10th career
450SX Class podium.

Roczen became the first rider in 450SX Class history to win back-to-back season
openers on different brands.

Suzuki has now won two of the last three Anaheim openers. Davi Millsaps won on a
Suzuki in 2013.

Since 1974, the winner of the season opener has gone onto win the championship 17
times.

Jason Anderson earned a runner-up finish in his first career 450SX Class start.
Anderson also gave Husqvarna their first 450SX Class podium since Kent Howerton on December 4, 1976.

Trey Canard earned his first podium since Houston of 2013, where he finished third. It
was his 14th career 450SX Class podium.

Ryan Dungey earned a fourth-place finish in the season opener. It was his 72nd
top fivefinish in 84 career 450SX Class starts.

For the first time in six consecutive season openers, Dungey did not finish on the
podium.

Andrew Short made his 108th career 450SX Class start and earned his 43rd career
top five finishes with a fifth place.

Short also holds the current 450SX Class start streak. He has been on the gate for 39
straight races heading into Phoenix. Dungey has 38 consecutive starts.

Justin Barcia earned the 23rd top-six finish of his career with a sixth place.

Weston Peick earned his 17th career 450SX Class top-10 finish with a seventh place.

Broc Tickle earned an eighth place finish in the last two season opening races; it was
his 26th career top 10 finish.

Mike Alessi earned his 43rd 450SX Class top 10 with a ninth place. Alessi now has 86
career 450SX Class starts, which ties him with Bob Hannah.

Chad Reed, who entered his 14th season with a 450SX Class start, earned his 162nd
career top-10 finish. The race also marked his 171st 450SX Class start, tying him for fifth with Nick Wey.

Reed has only finished outside of the top 10 nine times in his entire 450SX Class
career.

250SX Class Stats: Phoenix
The First 250SX Class race in Phoenix was on March 16, 1991, and Jeff Emig won on a Yamaha.
This will be the 18th time the gate will drop for a 250SX Class event in Phoenix.

James Stewart is the only rider to win Phoenix back-to-back in the 250SX Class. He
accomplished this in 2002 and 2003.

Jessy Nelson became the 97th different 250SX Class winner with his win. It was only
Nelson''s third career top five and his first podium.

Nelson''s victory gave KTM only their fourth first time winner in the 250SX Class. The
other three include Ken Roczen, Marvin Musquin, and Grant Langston.

KTM reached a milestone in winning back-to-back season openers for the first time
ever. Jason Anderson won the Anaheim opener last season. Nathan Ramsey also won the Western Regional 250SX Class season opener for KTM in 2005.

Since 1997, the winner of the opening race in the Western Regional 250SX Class went on to win the championship eight times, including Anderson last season.

For five consecutive seasons, KTM has won a Main Event in the 250SX Class. The win was KTM''s 23rd 250SX Class victory of all-time.

Zach Osborne earned a career-best second place finish. It was his sixth career 250SX
Class podium finish

Osborne''s podium gave Husqvarna their first podium since Travis Preston in 2001.

Tyler Bowers earned the second 250SX Class podium of his career with a runner-up
finish. In six seasons of starting either a 450SX or 250SX Class Main Event, Bowers
never raced in Anaheim.

Justin Hill earned his ninth career 250SX Class top-five finish with a fourth place. Hill
has only finished outside of the top 10 twice as he begins the third season of his 250SX Class career.

Aaron Plessinger earned a fifth place in his first 250SX Class start.

Josh Hansen earned a 250SX Class top-10 finish for the first time since Las Vegas
2011.
